What the........

I was instructed by the office manager to write off a balance of $195.00 for this patient whose visit was in 11/2004. So I adjusted off their balance in 12/2004. The patient called me *today* and wanted to know why she never got a bill in almost a year. I explained to her that we adjusted off the balance as a professional courtesy per the office manager. She told me to un-adjust it and send her a bill because she wants to pay it.

If you adjusted my bill in such a way, I would be thrilled. It makes no sense.

You can write off my balance for the surgeons! I wouldn't call you and bug you about it.

Tell her if she really wants to pay a bill, come see me. I've got a few I could pass her way.

Do you work for a shrink? Maybe she's crazy...I sure wouldn't demand to pay a $200 bill. If I got that news, I would buy myself something and thank the doctor at my next visit.

I don't think she's stupid. She's honest. I still feel bad about the 10 cents I cheated the bus driver back in the first grade. At least she want be going through that kind of guilt.
